Quaid-e-Azam Day Celebrations - UOS Mianwali Campus

Muhammad Ali Jinnah (25 December 1876 – 11 September 1948) was a lawyer, politician, and the founder of Pakistan.Jinnah served as leader of the All-India Muslim League from 1913 until Pakistan's creation on 14 August 1947, and then as Pakistan's first Governor-General until his death. He is revered in Pakistan as Quaid-i-Azam and Baba-i-Qaum. His birthday is observed as a national holiday.

Today a seminar held at UOS Mianwali Campus with reference to the Quaid-e-Azam Day Celebrations. It was planned on 25 December but due to winter vacations It held today. It celebrated to pay rich tribute to the father of the nation Muhammad Ali Jinnah. All students and teachers made posters for this special day and they gathered in the Campus Auditorium Hall. Seniors teachers and students presented the speech and told the students about the founder of Pakistan Mohammad Ali Jinnah who served as leader and created Pakistan. All students and teachers were excited as they sung national anthem together at the end.

Smog Awareness Walk - UOS Mianwali Campus

Today (08-11-2017) Chemistry and Biological Sciences Departments organized an awareness walk and seminar to sensitise the people regarding the adverse effect of smog on human health.

Campus Director Dr. Ashraf Shaheen, Dr. Amir Muhammad Khan ( HOD Biological Sciences), Dr. Touqir Ahmad ( HOD Chemistry), faculty members and the Campus students participated in the walk and seminar.

Campus Director and other faculty members distributed face masks and awareness literature among the participants on the occasion. The speakers, while addressing the seminar, said that burning of paddy puddles, smoke producing old vehicles, hours-long traffic jam on the roads, use of sub-standard fuel by industrials units, rapid and ill-planned urbanization and drought are the basic causes of smog.

They said that collective efforts and planning by different departments with a multi-sectoral approach is required to overcome the issue. Community participation is also essential to take immediate measures to control the Pollution.

Campus Director said that, old age citizens with weak physique, children and patients with respiratory diseases are more vulnerable to the effects of smog.

He said that smog can produce pneumonia in children and olg-age persons, therefore, such people should adopt precautionary measures against the smog to avoid falling seriously ill.
